Last Sunday we had an opportunity to celebrate the beginning of the Emmett Nazarene Church Family. It was interesting to think about all the sacrifice it took just to bring this family together and build a place to meet. Why would they make such a large sacrifice just to start a church family?
​   The truth is that having relationship with each other is in our DNA. Read the Bible from front to back and you just can't create a recipe for living the life that God has created for us without making relationships with each other an important piece.
   One of the many examples we looked at last Sunday was the Creation story. If you remember the story from Genesis, God created many different things and declared them good. But then, unexpectedly, He said that something was not good. In Genesis 2:18, God said that it was not good for man to be alone. But was Adam really alone? No! Who was with him? He had God... who walked and talked with him in the Garden.
   Think about it. Here was the first human enjoying a perfect relationship with his Creator, yet even then God said something was not good! And it has to be because Adam was designed to be in relationship with other humans as well as with God. Yes this passage was about marriage... but not just about marriage. God does not require all of us to be married… but relationship is in our DNA.
   So as we continue to reflect on our founding story, let's remember what they knew well, that relationship with a local church family is important. And not just visiting once a week, although this is a good place to start. We need to build friendships with each other so that we can walk alongside each other in the journey... praying for and encouraging each other. How can you take a step in this direction this week?
